Add an Opportunity for Businesses

Aim of the 'Nature Opportunities for Businesses'

In collaboration with other natural environment organisations, the Nature Commission aims to help partner corporations with environmental groups to improve access to local conservation projects that require funding; improve corporate staff knowledge regarding the importance of our natural environment and how it links to their business activities; and help to improve access to on-island volunteering opportunities for business to engage with and contribute to nature.

This initiative does not directly provide funding or constitute responsibility

Instead, the purpose is to better promote and make more widely available environmental-related activities, so that businesses can easily find information and engage with environmental initiatives. The Nature Commission’s promotion of activities does not constitute responsibility as the delivery body for the activities, unless the Nature Commission is the lead on that activity.

How it works

The initiative is for information sharing only. Eligible organisations may apply to add their relevant activities to 'Nature Opportunities for Businesses' by submitting a completed application form. The details will be reviewed by the Nature Commission Team, further information requested as necessary, and the information uploaded onto the relevant initiative webpage on the Nature Commission website. The initiative webpage will be promoted with local businesses and corporations on an ongoing basis.

Once a business has identified an activity they wish to proceed with through 'Nature Opportunities for Businesses', or if they would like to find out more about an activity, communications must take place between that businesses and the relevant organisation leading the activity - this should occur outside of the ‘Nature Opportunities for Business’ initiative. Contact details of the lead organisation will be required as part of the application for this purpose.

Where there is successful partnership of a businesses with an activity, any reporting and/or evaluation of the activity required or requested by the partnered business will be the responsibility of the organisation leading the activity. Additionally, the Nature Commission will not accept or administer any funds for any activity where the Nature Commission is not the organisation leading the activity.

Following up on an activity

The Nature Commission may request further information from organisations leading an activity, to better understand success and to enable improvement of the initiative.

Providing updates on 'Nature Opportunities for Businesses'

It is anticipated that the Nature Commission will include activities in a newsletter which can be provided to corporations on a quarterly (TBC) basis. This will enable new activities and those ongoing to be better promoted and identified to businesses for their support.

Definition of Activity

Where ‘activity’ is referred to, this is defined as the project and/or the education opportunity provided by an organisation.
