Guernsey's first Nature Network
Can you help nature to find a home and flourish?
The Nature Commission is encouraging everyone in Guernsey to be part of a Nature Network to provide homes where nature can thrive.
If you own a garden (big or small), an allotment or other land, or you manage land within businesses, schools, public buildings, churches, parish land, etc, you are invited to join the Nature Network and be part of a whole-island picture of how we are encouraging nature to thrive in our island.
A Nature Network consists of core areas of important wildlife habitat connected by wildlife corridors and smaller wildlife-rich ‘stepping stones’. This network allows animals, plants, birds, seeds, nutrients and water the opportunity to spread and move across the island, providing the island’s biodiversity with greater resilience and the habitats needed to support sustainable populations of different species.
But a Nature Network is not just for nature – the Network will provide natural environments rich in wildlife for people to enjoy and experience. Connecting with nature is proven to be beneficial for our own health and wellbeing.
