New Chair of the Board welcomed
The Nature Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Jo Huxtable as the new Chair of the Board of Directors.
This appointment marks an exciting chapter for the Commission as it continues to advance its mission of protecting and enhancing Guernsey’s biodiversity within a generation.
“We are absolutely delighted that Jo has joined the Nature Commission” says Jessi Jennings, CEO of the Nature Commission. “Her passion for environmental stewardship and wealth of experience will be invaluable, bringing fresh energy, proven leadership, and a commitment to our mission. I’m looking forward to working closely with her as we continue to grow our impact and champion the protection of Guernsey’s natural environment”.
Jo is a Tax Partner at Deloitte where she has held a variety of leadership roles including responsibility for the firm's charity partnerships with Mind and GROW. Alongside her professional career, Jo has been actively involved in a range of voluntary roles within Guernsey’s business community (such as GSCCA, GIBA, IOD), some with a focus on sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Since moving to Guernsey in 2003 with her family, Jo has developed a deep passion for the island’s natural environment and is a strong advocate for recognising nature as a public good that we have a duty to protect. In return, she believes that nature plays a vital role in supporting our mental and physical health, protecting us against climate change, and enriching Guernsey’s unique identity.
“Nature is deeply routed in Guernsey’s horticultural heritage. I believe the Nature Commission can harness this legacy to inspire a new wave of local pride and responsibility for our natural environment and drive tangible and meaningful action.”
Jo succeeds Martin Belcher, who led the Nature Commission Board for two years and will remain involved with the organisation as a director.
